  It takes you completely.
  You body,

  Is no longer.
  The first thing to go is your mind,
  Your sanity of the moment.
  The images take you and hold you,
  Forcing you to re-live something.
  Something you want to forget,
  Forever…
  They flash and you get small
  Movie clips of things that
  Make you cry; make you lose it .
  Next you shake,
  Your body trembles,
  Almost like a seizure.
  Your hands are unsteady.
  Than your eyes unfocused,
  Refocus,
  Unfocused.
  That's you losing yourself,
  Finding yourself, resisting,
  Then losing again.
  The pain starts in your chest;
  Like a faint ache,
  It's almost like your heart disintegrating.
  It moves to your lower stomach,
  That makes you want to curl up
  And die.
  By about the image flashes;
  Your knees will go weak, they will shake first
  You try to stay upwards as the pain doubles you over.
  You eventually go down,
  Against a wall, snuggled in bed,
  Over the toilet, ready to heave your organs out or
  Cuddled on the couch.
  My favorite position is when your
  Curled up in a ball on the floor,
  Knees drawn up to your chin,
  Arms splayed or gripping your legs,
  Eyes glazed over.
  Giving in, it's easier than fighting,
  It hurts worse,
  But is over quicker then trying to fight it for hours.
  That's when you need the release.
  Some take pills,
  Some meditate,
  Some do therapy,
  Some do drugs.
  I do no one of those.
  I think mine is far more harmful.
  The memories last forever,
  Carved by myself
  Into the tenderness of my skin.
  A glint of metal,
  The taste of iron,
  The sting of the cut.
  I'm crazy; I know.
  It helps;
  The emotional pain dissipates,
  Drowned out by the physical pain
  Of my closest companion,
  A blade.
  The cut heals; making room,
  Allowing a clean canvas for later.
  Although the marks from my last
  Artistic contribution is faded in the background.
  My scars, they remind me of what I went through.
  I regret it all. I can't stop now though .
